Overcoming barriers to fuel cell markets in South Africa
Eco Ltd has worked with the Carbon Trust and Orion Innovations to help a leading international company develop a strategy for the development of the Fuel Cell market in South Africa. Eco’s role was to serve as experts on the removal of barriers for new energy technology development in developing countries – particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa.
This project built upon Eco’s previous work related to the analysis of the global fuel cells market – carried out for IFC and the numerous sustainable energy projects which Eco has been involved in developing over the course of the last decade.
Building on their knowledge of the region and insights into the energy markets in developing countries, Eco experts supported the effort to develop a report which made recommendations on programmes and policies which will advance the deployment and production of Fuel Cells in South Africa. This includes an assessment of the various tools used by governments, businesses, international organisations, and NGOs within developing countries to develop markets and overcome barriers for cleaner energy sources and technological innovation.
