5 August 2019, Category: All insights, News, Tags: , , , , , ,

We are delighted to announce that E Co. has joined the community of 2,933 certified B Corporation companies around the world. We are proud to be part of this community of socially and environmentally responsible businesses.

“Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.”

As experts in unlocking climate finance and low-carbon project design, the core of our work has always been firmly rooted in building a more sustainable world. We were told the following by the B Corp verification specialist:

“E Co. has achieved a score of 105 points, which is extraordinary for a companies’ first certification.”

Take a look at our B-Corp profile here.

Most companies score around 50 and the B Corp threshold is 80.

As we grow as a company, we would like to more clearly establish our values, not just in the projects and programmes we do, but also in the way we conduct our business. We have recently published our internal E Co. Environmental Policy, which we will be sharing on our website shortly.

What is B Corp?

B Corp Certification aims to foster a community of global leaders in business in order to drive positive economic change for all stakeholders, not just shareholders. It is more than just a measure of performance, but a statement of commitment to creating a more inclusive global economy.

“Certified B Corporations are a new kind of business that balances purpose and profit. They are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment. This is a community of leaders, driving a global movement of people using business as a force for good.”

Why B Corp?

“Society’s most challenging problems cannot be solved by government and nonprofits alone.”

As climate consultants, the work we do at E Co. is multi-sectoral. We recognise the importance of establishing leading practice in order to influence change in our industries. Through B Corp Certification, companies across all sectors can signal their commitment to using business as a force for good.

B Corp Certification is administered by the non-profit B Lab and it is the only certification that measures a company’s entire social and environmental performance. The combination of third-party validation, public transparency, and legal accountability makes this a valuable tool of measurement for all stakeholders involved.

Who uses it?

Today, there are more than 2,933 Certified B Corporations from 64 countries and more than 150 industries. Included in the B Corps are the likes of Patagonia and Ben & Jerry’s.
